Upper cervical specific chiropractic.  The focus is not the symptom.  The focus is to restore the body’s healing ability because the result will be that the symptom will be resolved.

The problem usually shows up because the body has been unable to maintain its ability to heal.  Because the ability has been somehow diminished, the result is some type of pain, sickness or disease manifesting itself over time.

A healthy body is free of sickness, disease or pain.  A healthy body is able to get back to a state of health through the process of healing.  This means whether you catch the cold, flu, are injured or even something worse, the healing process should bring you back to health if you have the ability to do so.  If not, meaning that your ability to heal has been diminished, then it does not matter how weak the virus is or how small the injury is, your body will not be able to recover and that usually means a long time of suffering or even in some cases death.

What upper cervical chiropractic seeks to do is to restore the communication channels that are linked from the brain to the body and from the body back to the brain.

The body is controlled by the brain and the nerve system.  Everything that your body does both consciously and unconsciously is controlled by the brain and the signals it is able to send out.  If you want to move your hand your brain has to send the signals from itself down to every muscle fiber that will allow control of the movement which will move the hand to do what you want it to do.  But are you aware that when the nerves controlling the hand are pinched you will feel numbness and pain, and in some extreme cases there can be muscle atrophy.  Atrophy is when the muscle begins to waste away because there is no nerve supply to it.  This is why the nerve channels are important.

The brain, brainstem, spinal cord and nerve fibers are the central components of your nerve system.  These channels must be open free from abnormal pressure so that your body can function properly.  These channels are what controls the body’s ability to perform every living function including breathing, digesting, toxin removal, regulating blood pressure, sleep cycles, cognitive function, etc.

The brainstem is the relay station between the channels that are starting from the brain that level the skull and connect into the spinal cord located in the neck. The brainstem is vital to your well being.  Keeping this area free from pressure is not only crucial to your well being but it is also important to keep this area in alignment so that your head moves in a natural way free from pain and discomfort.

The upper cervical spine is where the brainstem transitions into the spinal cord and this is where many people have had a misalignment due to some sort of trauma in their life.

By correcting the misalignment and taking pressure off the brainstem opens up the channels which allow the healing messages to flow freely to the body where is was once blocked off.  When this happens the body is able to do what it does best and that is to heal.

Rather than looking at the symptom, we look to restore function.  By allowing the body to heal it will resolve the symptom on its own.

This is in my opinion one of the most important steps to take in getting back to being healthy.
